Welcome to the Wayland chapter of Neighbor Brigade! Our chapter was formed in March 2010. Whether you are seeking assistance or looking to provide help to another, you’ve come to the right place.
Our volunteer chapter leaders donate time to coordinate the needs of families in crisis with the volunteers who want to help. Read on to learn more about their passion for Neighbor Brigade, and help us spread the word!
Please invite at least three friends to visit us here at www.neighborbrigade.org/WaylandMA! We are always looking to expand our presence here in Wayland among volunteers and potential recipients alike.
Neighbor Brigade establishes community-specific networks of volunteers that can be mobilized to help residents facing sudden crisis manage day-to-day tasks such as meal preparation, rides, and basic household chores. Our Wayland chapter is just one of 29 chapters helping their neighbors in crisis! To learn more about us and our other chapters, please visit our home page here.
Mary has been a member of the Wayland community for close to 25 years and with her husband Ken, has raised three children here. Mary was born in central New York and is a graduate of Syracuse University, has an MBA from Boston College and earned her masters in teaching from Bridgewater State College. She is the technology specialist at Wayland High School and is co-adviser for the student run online newspaper, WSPN. She is a member of Good Shepard Parish and is a volunteer at the Hospice Residence at Parmenter. Outside of the classroom, Mary enjoys friends, family and physical activity. She originally became involved as one of many Wayland Angels and is helping sustain and grow Pam’s legacy, the Neighbor Brigade. ‘Some of my fondest memories include delivering meals with my children, to those who needed a helping hand. I look forward to helping others make that same connection with our community.’
Anne is the current leader of the founding chapter of Neighbor Brigade. She has lived in Wayland for 30 years, with her husband Mark and four sons. Anne grew up in Baltimore and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in psychology, but Wayland has become her home. She owns a private preschool in Lincoln and enjoys her days teaching five-year-olds and serving as co-director. Anne was inspired to join Neighbor Brigade in its mission after meeting Pam Washek and Jean Seidon, the founders of this incredible community support system.
Since incorporating in 2010, Neighbor Brigade has grown to 29 chapters, with new chapters on the way. We are largely concentrated in Eastern Massachusetts. We currently have a presence in the communities below. Please click on the town to visit their chapter page, to request assistance, join as a volunteer, or just learn more about the chapter.
