Polly Mendoza

PollyNBDirectorPolly is a native of Weston, Massachusetts and a graduate of Concord Academy and Boston College with a BA in Secondary Education and Spanish. Her degree in Spanish allowed her to travel many parts of the world including Costa Rica where her nonprofit career launched as executive director of the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center. While there she managed a variety of programs that strengthened the organizational capacity of local communities and gave youth the necessary tools and resources to succeed. Deeply and continuously inspired by her brother’s life experiences as a young man with Down Syndrome she used her development and management skills to found her own nonprofit organization, HILLS, Inc. based in Denver, Colorado where Polly lived and directed HILLS for the last 8 years. HILLS continues to be a top resource for recreation and social programs for people with developmental disabilities while providing much needed respite care for families. Now having two young children, the importance of having them grow up near family brought Polly back to the east coast where she continues her passion for nonprofit organizations that have a strong and meaningful impact on our diverse communities in Massachusetts. Polly may be reached at polly@neighborbrigade.org.

Kristine Shah

Kristine proudly joins the Neighbor Brigade team with over a decade of nonprofit experience and a passion for volunteering. Born and raised in Foxboro, Massachusetts, she followed her mother’s lead of community activism early and involved herself in town and school government before graduating high school. Kristine graduated from James Madison University in Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and concentrations in Political Communications and Human Resource Development. During her sophomore year at JMU she studied in Washington, DC and worked as a press intern in the United States Senate. After graduating, she moved back to Massachusetts and began her nonprofit development career working for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Kristine also gained experience working for other national nonprofit organizations: Easter Seals and the American Heart Association. She moved to Bedford, MA with her husband and two children in 2012 and entrenched herself in the community, most recently serving as Co-Director of The Bedford Family Connection. Kristine is fulfilled by helping others and through her life, both personally and professionally, has been inspired by the true power and passion that happens when neighbors help each other, through good times and bad. Kristine can be reached at kristine@neighborbrigade.org.
